Tips for Using the Site
SEARCH for Plants.
In a typical search, you enter some criteria,
see a list of matching species, and click on the
scientific name to get to the
CNPLX
species information page.
At the bottom of the query page, however, there is
a field called Name Linked to, which defaults
to
CNPLX. You can set the value of that field to
one of the larger reference websites, like the Las Pilitas nursery.
When you click on the
scientific name on the matching page, you will go directly
to the chosen site.
Thus you can use
CNPLX
as a way of organizing access to these other sites.
- Output Format.
If you want to take the
data home and do something else entirely with it,
the query page allows you to specify whether
you want the results of your query as an HTML page
(the usual way), as XML, or as plain text.
REPORT. On several pages that show lists of species,
there is a REPORT link.
REPORT means display the species list in a more elaborate
way with photographs. When you first press REPORT,
you will see it in the default format. Press REPORT FORMAT
at the top of the page to customize the format.
